Oxygen Sensor
Hello all.....need a little help.....
Have a 99 4 door civic 1.6L, and the CEL light came on.....read the code and came up as P0135.....so can someone tell me where is this sensor located and
how many sesnors are there on the civic??
Is this sensor on top near the engine or underneath the car??
I had my civic repaired yesterday and my mechanic did 2 things, tightened the
engine mount bolts on the driver side and also replaced a piece on the exhaust where there are 2 spring type connectors near the front....so could it be a coincidence or could he have screwed up something???
Thanks for any help

well if you just had the car worked on id take it to your shop and ask them to make sure the wire conections on the O2 sensors are pluged in.... maybe he unpluged it and just forgot to plug it back in when tightening the bolts or what not...
or you could simply reset your memory also and see if its just a fluke light... if the CEL light doesnt come back on then i wouldnt worry about it.
to reset the memory simply unhook the ground wire on the battery for ruffly 30seconds and hook it back up. then your memory should be reset. or you could also pull the memory fuse under the hood. its alittle easier since its just a fuse... but i cannt give you a exact fuse. i believe its a 7.5amp fuse near the firewall under the hood passenger side.

Thanks bass for the swift reply,
I cleared the code with the scanner, the light went off and then came back on after 20 seconds......so that didnt work.....
im curious to know where this sensor is located.....in the engine or beneath the car...

There are two sensors, one on the manifold near the engine, which is before the catalytic converter, and one after the catalytic converter. They both have a 4-pin plug, which like addiction said, could simply have been left unplugged. I haven't looked up the code to see which one it corresponds to.

dito. depending on model civic.... if its a low DX base then one connector is right infront, simply follow the wires off the header.... i believe both sensors are on the front. top and bottom....
if its a EX Vtec motor then the sensors are behind the oil pan and one right after that in the converter....
simply follow the exhaust tubes and look for something that is screwed into the pipes with wires coming off it.... hopefully he just left the thing unpluged by accident....
or maybe he broke a wire when messing the the bolts... or maybe its just a fluke and the converter OR the sensor just went bad...
