Default is this part replaceable?

the little black boot that covers the small part of the throttle cable near the throttle body.

mine is ripped at one end and sometimes jams up, thats not the problem though the problem is it chafes on the cable leaving a residue that makes the cable sticky at times.

if its not replaceable any creative ideas to fix this? i'd just rip it off but i feel it should be there?

I think you have to change the whole throttle cable to replace it. It's not expensive or complicated to do. If your cable is sticking that would not be a bad idea anyway.

Would still work, dust and water might conceivably get into the cable and cause trouble, but that would be a long way down the road.

I'm assuming you're in a 98 ex. If the flexible rubber boot has been cracked for a long time, it probably already has some dirt and crud in it. If you say it jams up sometimes then for sure it does. The entire throttle cable assembly is really pretty cheap. Part number is 17910-S01-A02. List price $17.07. Way wayless than what I thought it would be. Hope that helps.
