Unhappy Please help a/c problem

well I was hopeing not to have any problems with my civic for a while but it didnt take long for something to happen...... ok this may be a simple answer for some of you but im not a mechanic, I can change parts and i am mechanicly inclined so if you tell me what is wrong i can fix it but diagnosis is not my thing.

ok a/c belt skweels under load. or over 60mph. makes no sound when its at idle or if i take my foot off the gas. i replaced the belt (kind of a pain) but I had the same issue after the new belt? also it smelled like burnt rubber after running for about 15 mins? i looked to see if it was rubbing against anything and its not. I am going back out to the girage to play around a bit I will check in soon, hope one of you lol's at me and has an easy answer

Did you properly set the belt tension?

i did not use a tool to measure, i just felt the belt before i replaced it and made the new one a little tighter than that, also compressor still kicks on i just ran it and it isnt locking up. tension may be an issure how do i spec (measure) that?

Well it's kind of difficult without the deflection measuring tool. What I do is I just guess and check adjust it until it doesn't make noise anymore and it feels like the proper tension.

Also, try spraying some belt conditioner on there once you're completely done (not before you're done guessing and checking the adjustments).
