Possible Engine Knock! Please Help
Hello everyone I am new to this forum and need some help.
I have a 1995 Civic coupe EJ1 with a d16z6 w/ 156,xxx on it. It was my sisters car for a few years and she just sold it to me, and she always kept up on maintenance.
Basically when the car is running, in drive or reverse, and stopped i hear a consistent knock when sitting inside the car (Its quiet enough where the radio must be off to hear it good). If i put my foot on the break and give it a little gas the noise increases speed with the engine speed. The noise is also slightly louder when the car has warmed up. However I cannot hear the knock when i am outside of the car (while its in drive). If its in park and I rev it to the like 3000 rpm i hear a rattling/knock only as the rpm slightly increases or decreases in the 3000 rpm range.
When the car is idle in park whether your inside the car or not warmed up or not. You cannot hear any knocks. The engine runs smooth and i really hope its not a wrist pin or bearing knock.
Thank you all! and I think tomorrow I may take a video of everything and post it for some more opinions or thoughts

Noise from inside the engine will be louder outside the car. Also bearing-related knocks get worse the more you work the engine, it would be minor at idle and get loud when driving. So I don't think it's that. The heat shields and exhaust pipe can make noise under the car that is easy to hear inside.

Okay, whats interesting though is that the noise is so consistent and always there. I showed the noise to my sister and she 'thinks' that the noise has been there for over a year. I am hoping so.
Its deep tone but not too loud. I have no clue.
Also when im on the highway, cruising and the rpms are like 2800, I dont hear any noises at all. But as soon as i come to a full stop, radio off, i hear knock knock knock knock knock...
Thanks

Okay I do remember about a year ago my sister got full exhaust done by an exhaust shop from manifold back so maybe some of their work is causing the problem. I am going to make a video clip today after work of everything hopefully we can figure it out.
Thanks

i know that sound i had a neon get a spun rod bearing and it sounded alot like that.
Sorry to say
One way to know is to take the oil pan off the engine and see if there is any up and down movement in it.
Back when that happened on my neon someone suggested at first that it was a cracked header i didnt look into it much cause it was a bad bearing and i ended up just selling the car.
Heres a clip of what it sounded like this is when it was really bad.
