In my 1998 Honda Civic the windshield wipers hit the trim of the bottom of the windshield and the driver side trim and all of this ruins the blades. I tried to calibrate the Wipers by changing their angles with trial and error, but everything I would try the wipers would slam on to the trim. The weird thing is though that it doesn't always hit the trim, very often, but not every time. With the blades being constantly broken, the windshield is very poorly cleared of rain. Do you have any tips to keep the windshield wipers on the windshield and off of the trim?

 

Take the wiper arm off and look at it where it bolts on. Are the splines on the wiper arm stripped out? Are the splines on the part it bolts on to stripped out?

 

No nothing is stripped, but I came up with another Idea. Underneath the window trim is there any way that the rack (what the arms are attached too underneath the trim I don't know what it's called) could be displaced or off line and needs new alingnment? If you think that's a possibility how should I go about it?

 

no the linkages are not adjustable.
if you cannt adjust the wiper arms themselves or they keep moving then the splines must be stripped and it allows the wiper arms to slip throwing it off.
if you need a replacement setup i do have a whole setup, with the motor and linkages, just no wiper arms. i bought it for my old 96civic but never put them on and i sold the car like that.

 

So do you think I need just new arms?

 

i have no idea what you need... we cannt see your parts. most things you cannt get answers for unless you try to show use some pics of it.
it could be a stripped part or it could be your just not putting them on right.
