Default problem!! think culprit is fuel filter but no clue

My 99 civic EX for some reason when first started up will not idle properly and come close to cutting off (i.e shaking of the car, headlights flickering) its only happened twice so far. 1st time it was really cold and i figured that was the problem, 2nd time (tonight) it wasn't that cold and i had the same problem ... the problem only lasts until the car warms up a little (about a minute) and when i would push in the gas to keep the idle steady, the engine would not respond until i release the gas and then the rpms jump back up ... this has only happened if i haven't driven the car in a while (12 hours) but like i said this is only the 2nd time it has happened ... now i'm no mechanic but i had a similar problem with my old 93 nissan hardbody and i changed the fuel filter and it ran fine but if anyone has any insight, suggestion or ideas i would love someones opinion ... oh yeah and the car is still under warranty so i'm not too worried about it just figured i would see if i could get some ideas whats wrong
