Default push button install

I have a 1995 Honda civic with a switch button start. well i live in Colorado and to get my emissions tested it needs to be a push button. I took the switch button off and hooked up the push button to the same wire but i think i did it wrong. what would be the proper way to install a push button?

What is a "switch button?"

To run the starter you have the start button connect the white wire (feed from battery) to the black wire with white stripe (starter circuit). Do realize that the 1995 Civic is still consistently in the top 3 most commonly stolen cars. Don't make it so easy to steal, and don't think that nobody would steal it because it's old. It's really not difficult or expensive to fix the key start.
