I bought a motor for my 2000 civic ex. It a d16y8 and it looks like the motor came out of a M/t car. The intake has a extra part on the back of it. Im not sure what it is. But i know mine dont and it is a A/T car. Do i just swap my intake on to it and call it a day or is there more stuff i need to do?

The IACV system is different. The extra part is a 2 wire IACV. Just swap your old throttle body and intake manifold onto the new engine. The engine block and the exhaust are the same for both versions. You need a D16Y8 from the OBDIIb years (98? - 2000). The earlier ones do not have holes in the head for the fuel injector air boost.

 

Thanks MK. My civic is a 2000. The motor came out of a 1996. Since it is 4 years older is there anything else that is different other that the intake?

I think you may have trouble with those little air holes. Look at the head and manifold closely where they mate up. You may be able to just swap your throttle body on, and use the OBD2a intake manifold. Leave the 2 wire IACV on the back of the manifold mounted up, but disconnected.

 

So in the worse case I might need to swap heads? I have the head off mine and had it all gone threw and redecked and new valve seals.

Well since no one else has any input i guess ill just swap heads and call it a day. Just to put it out their, i will have a D16Y8 manual trans head for sale soon.
