Exclamation question regarding - Splash guards...

Hi People,

I'm replacing the Rear Hub/Bearings on my 93 Civic.

I am just wondering if it is necessary to have Splash Guards installed.

They became so rusted that I had to rip them off by hand a couple of months back. Now is my chance to replace them.

Are they necessary as part of the stack up (do they function as a shim), and are they really worth the added expense to replace the rusted out ones???

Thanks for your input.
