questions for sacs
sacs, what are you talking about when you said something about the timing at 14 BTCD. Not familiar with that. also, being the the block is decked at 20 thousands, how much HP do you think i will be gaining, and no, i am not doing the turbo anymore. Man, I really appreciate all the help and suggestions you have given me.

never mind its not in blue but here is a snapshot I took for you, I circled it also... this is the page that you get when you click on somebodies member name in the forum... like I did to mine. And dont worry about being a n00b. No one is judged here by there greenieness. Besides... everybody was a n00b before at one point in time.

RE: questions for sacs
i might as well answer it, seeing as how the answer will have some info others might not know. 14* BTDC means fourteen degrees before top dead center. a degree is 1/360th of a rotation (the circle of the rotation being 360 degrees) of the crankshaft. so that means that the spark plugs will fire when the piston is 14 degrees away from the highest point it will reach (Top Dead Center) usually the ignition timing on a honda is around 16-18* BTDC, but with higher compression, you need to retard it, richen the fuel mixture, or run better fuel, as it being too advanced (bigger number) will cause detonation. the great thing about this, is that you can fill the tank with 104 octane race gas on raceday, advance the timing to 16*, and gain about 5-15 horses. your gains from the decked head should be around 2-3 pecent, doesnt sound like a lot, but it will also increase the efficiency of your engine, so you could get a little better mileage, and with some bigger cams, you will get even more gains than you would at stock CR.
