Default Radiator fitment issues

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has ran into this problem and found a way to fix it so heres the low down.

2000 Civic Si B16A2

I found out that my end tank cracked so I went out and got new hoses and thermostat and my little brother sent me a half rad he had sitting around but it didnt match my fan mounts, so I went to O'Riellys and got a new radiator I got home had everthing in place and found that the inlets and outlets are smaller than the rad hoses they gave me. So my ? is how do I stop the leak coming from the lower hose at the rad. I tried tightening it down and the dripping stopped so I topped it off and went for a drive on the way back to the apt I noticed that my temp gauge was spiked, once i got home I popped the cap and everything was empty. poured more coolant in it and what didnt come out in steam, dripped out the lower hose and I replaced the hose clamps also.

Both the rad and the hoses came from O'Riellys they are both what came up in the system, this kind makes me alittle on the questionable side as far as getting yet another new radiator, I dont have the money to go and get one from Honda and I am doing the work myself.

You should take the radiator and the hose back to the store and if they can't give you parts that fit, get your money back.

Also try the new hose on the fitting on your old radiator to see if the problem is the radiator too small or the hose too big.

As you've already learned, hose clamps don't change diameters. So if the hose is loose on the radiator to begin with, don't let them tell you to just tighten the clamp some more.

Well heres the deal I went out to my car this morning and filled it up and tightened the clamp some more got to work and the upper was leaking so I took a wrench and tightened that one as well and so far all is holding. I also really cant take it back atm bc its my only mode of trans and so Im going to watch it and if it still does develope a leak again I will have to go from there. Thanks for the input I will update as this all plays out.

If the rad came from a D series, there is your problem. The B series hoses are bigger, thus making the inlet/outlet holes on the radiator bigger. If you have a "D" series rad, with B series hoses, you will have a slight issue I believe.

My suggestion would be to either get the appropriate radiator, or upgrade to an aluminum radiator with the correct inlet/outlet. Something with a lifetime warranty??

I dont know if its from the D series or not I went back and double checked with them and they said that it was the only radiator they had in the system so I think Im just going to have to either get it from Honda or get an aluminium rad I will keep this updated as I find out more info on it, AND it still leaks
