i just did a couple of months ago.
if it smokes, probably need valve guide oil seals;
and you will be able to test for bad valves (if you do it yourself).

I was planning on doing a valve job while I had it apart. Perhaps I'll do a leakdown before I tear into it.

pull the head, exh, and oil pan and you can pull the pistons out with the block in the car. i do it all the time. would be a good idea to re-bearing the rods as well.

so, one question:
bearings can also be put into the main rods ?
