i have a 1996 honda civic ex. i just rewired the knock sensor with a shielded wire. it keeps popping up PO325 code. do i have to run a ground off the shielded wire?

 

I think it's like the distributor sensors, shield should be grounded at ECU end and open at engine end. A shield that is not grounded at either end does nothing.

 

so do i ground the shielded wire or the wire for the knock sensor?

 

The center wire goes through from the sensor to the ECU. The shield braid should be grounded at the ECU end, same way as the distributor sensors.

 

i tried it but still the engine light came on. do i have to ground the shielded wire next to the connector by the knock sensor also? i bought audio cable (3.6m) shielded wire, does any one know if this shielded wire is the right wire? i bought it at radio shack.

 

does any one know what kind of wire is best for the knock sensor. what about microphone wire? would that be better then what i used?
