Rear Seat Lock Problem?
Wassup all? I was wondering if anybody could help me figure out what's wrong with the lock to my rear seats? Whenever I put in the key (it's not the master, it's a copy because that's all that the guy I bought the car from had) and try to turn it to the let the rear seats down, it won't let me. I can turn the key almost 90 degrees clock-wise, but then it stops and I can't turn it any further. So I'm wondering if anybody knows what's the problem here? Is it the lock? And if so, is there a relatively easy way to fix it? Or is it the key? And if so, how would I go about getting one that will work? Because I figured that since the copy of the master works for everything else (locking-unlocking the car, ignition, shift release), it SHOULD work for the rear seat release.....[:'(] If anybody could help me figure out what the problem is, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

is it the same problem for both sides of the rear seat. one side of my rear seat would not do down and i see that the problem was because a pulling piece of metal got detached. take a from inside the trunk see if all the mechanism works. or have a friend use the key and try to unlock the seats and you look inside the trunk to see if anything is loose. not good explaining. but i think this might be the problem
Ok sfazngiants, I'll try that, cuz that's what it feels like....Like, I can partially turn the key, which makes me think that it's not the key, but that there's something jamming the lock....I just don't know what.
And cyberx32, you're saying that the copy of the key I have won't work, even though it's a copy of the master?

oh its a copy of the master? i thought it was the valet key. the master key is skinny, and the valet key is fatter. Its they key you give to valet so they cant get into your trunk or open anything you lock. All they can do is unlok the door and start the car

A valet key won't even fit into the keyhole, so that's not the issue.
As suggested, look inside the trunk to see what is moving. You should also be able to pull the lever from inside the trunk and unlatch the seat that way, even without a key.

if in doubt you can always go to any honda dealership with your vin and have them cut a new master key. they dont make copies they have the key code from the vin number so its a exact cut to how the lock was made!
with copies the keys are already worn so even tho its a new key..... your key pins are already worn low so the copy will be the same!
i had a problem with the key that came with my 95civic that was worn really smooth, i took vin to dealership with my registration and had him cut me a new key and it worked perfect! mine would work BUT you had to have the key just right, in the locks and sometimes in the ignition...
so go get a BRAND NEW key cut at dealership and THEN try it! it should work! if not theres something mechanical thats bad. [8D]
