Default Replaced Alternator- No Electricity

Civic 2002 LX

Last week the alternator died and I replaced it yesterday. I went to jump the car and when I try to turn the car on, there is absolutely no power at all. The headlights won't even work. Nothing happens when I turn the key.

I suspected the battery was just shot beyond jumping so I ran the multimeter over it and it had a charge of about 7-8 volts. I have cheap jumpers so I thought maybe the battery was so gone and the jumpers so poor that a new battery would fix it.

So I put the battery in, go to turn the key and still no power. At all. The only two solutions I can think of is a) a faulty ground, probably at the alternator or b) the electronic load detector.

Any idea how to fix this?

If you didn't disconnect the battery while replacing the alternator, it likely blew a main fuse in the fuse box near the battery.
