Reset Emissions Computer after battery disconnect
Greetings:
I have a 2007 LX Civic Coupe with 14,000 miles on it, I bought the car new, the driving has been all me. It was recently in the collision shop for many weeks with battery disconnected.
After finally getting the car back, it was the time of year for State Safety & Emissions inspection. Passed for safety, failed for emissions and was asked if I had a new battery or battery had been disconnected. They explained the computer has to be reset. The advice was to drive it 50-60 miles. I did that, went back for re-inspection and still failed. Once I got home I dug out the owner's manual and read the steps for doing a quick reset in 2-3 days, so I went and did about all the steps I could do given the driving conditions in my city. I've also since added more mileage to car, but perhaps not enough highway.
I also went back to the body shop, they took a look and made a call to a tech specialist who advised same thing - driving.
I want to go back for re-inspection but I am terrified! I cannot imagine there is anything wrong with the catalytic converter & related parts after just 14,000 miles and since warranty is up, dread thinking about having to replace anything.
Has anyone else had this problem or have insight on the situation? I want to get my new inspection sticker.....obviously I do not drive much, but how much do I need to do to reset the emissions computer?? I never imagined this sort of thing happening with a Honda!
Many thanks for any advice, suggestions.
Colleen

I'm not sure about the 2007, but on other models when the back-up fuse is blown, the computer will lose its memory power and reset every time you turn the key off. Thus it would always act like the battery had been removed and show the "not ready" code to inspections.
