Default Reverse gear issue

I have 98 civic hx and im having issues when i put the car in reverse. When i press the clutch and try to put it in reverse, its very hard and kida cranks when im finally able to put it in gear. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions on what can be wrong or what i can do to fix it.

When the gears grind when you try to go to reverse with the car fully stopped, that is actually a clutch issue. Pushing the clutch in is not stopping the shaft of the transmission like it should. First thing to check is the clutch fluid level.

I checked the fluid level and is at the top where it should be, is there anything else that could be causing the issue? All the other gears work well, just reverse I have to pull hard in order for it to shift.

I bought my '05 new and I've always had issues getting into reverse. No grinding but it doesn't always set it like it should. Seems to be worse when it's cold.

Going to 1st, then back to reverse seems to help.

Define "cranks when i get it into gear". Reverse is a square cut gear and is normally more noisy when you use it. Mine is more like a waahhhh sound.

I've found that many times mine is difficult to engage as well, especially if my foot is on the brake. Most always if i release the brake, it goes in fine because the wheels are able to move just a little so the squares line up.

If you're hearing gear griding and arent rushing the shift, then it may be a bad master or slave cylinder on your clutch line. I usually have to give it a second or two after pressing the clutch in to let the input shaft slow down, otherwise I'll hear a grind....
