Default rpm for mph

So i have had my 1.5L 89 hatch 4spd for about a week and when traveling at 55 mph (which it is geared for) it runs at about 2600rpms and when at 65mph the rpms are at a lil over 3000, both in 4th gear. Does this seem right to u guys? cause i thot at 55 mph it sound be running at 2000rpms?

Default RE: rpm for mph

sounds about right.

First do an internet search to find your gear ratiosfor a 4spd89 civic, and then calculate out your engine speed based on your tire size.

You can use the this clever calculating sheet to check your car:
performance.clubrsx.com/GearRatio.xls

Goto the second spread sheet in the xls file. Changed everything in one of the graphs toyour '89 civic's gear ratio and tire size and VOILA... your speed in MPH at whatever RPM you enter. I did it for my '93 civic just to see what my hwy cruising RPM are at 130km/hr since I don't have a tach...

cheers
