Today I was showing someone my engine cause my hood was off (to paint it) and I reved it up a couple times in nutruel. They said they saw fire come out my exhaust! Am I running rich? I have a staight pipe that's about 2.5" and after market exhaust that's about 2.25". . . . . . .No other mods, stock b16a1.

Is your car OBDI or OBDII? Do you have a check engine light? Check the O2 sensor readings, they should tell you if your running rich.

i wouldn't be worried. u got straight pipes, when ya rev it crazy it'll shoot flames. i've seen it happen wit my buddy's cavalier. don't think it would have happened with a cat or resinator on there. if i were you i'd prbably be pretty pleased that i can shoot flames. lol.

Come to think of it, i think that joey is correct. I remember last year when this guy from UTI brought his AstroVan to our auto shop class. He had a corvette LS1 engine swapped in with a cut out exhaust. When he revved that thing, it was loud as hell and shot flames out. I think that there is unburned fuel, that the cat is suppose to burn, but it gets burned by the heat of the exhaust.

its JUST a b16 and yes... if you are "shooting" flames you are rich. You will also be able to smell it. Another way is to check your plugs or just get it on a dyno for an a/f pull.
