Girl friend 1988 Civic automatic tranny appears to have went out. She said that it would drive in low gear before leaving her stranded on a freeway, after she put in a transmission kit. Now want drive forward or in reverse. Can transmission be saved? or how can I find out how to pull and install a replacement?

 

Go to the link in my signature and download the appropriate FSM. It should tell you how. 20 yrs is a good life for a transmission. I really don't think that it can be saved. You might be able to rebuild it.
