Seat Belt Question....
My driver side seat belt started wearing out and has become hard to move the buckle up and down. I found a guy with a parts car who sold me a used one for $10. But, it doesn't want to pull out of the retractor right now and I don't see anything that's gonna change that once it's installed(no release button or anything). I don't even think I can install it without more slack in the belt. After seeing the trouble he went through to get it out of his car, I'm concerned that I'll get the whole back seat pulled out and get the belt installed and it won't release. I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this and if they could let me know how it works. Thanks.
Yeah, I heard that too, so I called Honda America and at first the lady told me it was true. Then she called me back and said that it covers everything but the actual belt itself. Stuff like the retractor and the buckle latch are covered.
So none of the Honda pros on here have any knowledge about seat belts? Figured somebody would have experience with them. Even the $10 belt I bought is a little worn so I thought somebody else would have had the same problem......
The belt has to be sitting exactly as it would when mounted to the car. It's by design. If you hold it upright, then try to pull the belt out, it will work. If you hold it sideways, it will NOT work.
It's designed to hold the driver in place in the event of an accident. If you were to roll over, you wouldn't want the belt to just go slack... would you?

Right, it has to be upright. There is a weight that also acts as an inertia sensor. When the car decelerates abruptly (such as by crashing into something) the weight moves and locks the belt from rolling out.
