Default second gear grinds and comes out of gear

so the tranny i had emergently put into my car a while back grinds when i put it into second from first. sometimes it goes in but mostly it grinds and doesnt go in so i sound like a moron who cant drive a stick. it rarely goes in with no fight. also when i downshift to second and stay at a steady speed it will pop out. i have to be increasing my speed for the gear to stay. what would cause this other than having a bad tranny? any way to fix it without spending 100's of dollars? help....

the syncronisers* are bad easier to get a new trans usaully caused from someone slamming gears with out the clutch fully engaged(racing) and also from people not putting correct oil in trans. put motor oil in them and never put that lucas in them its way to thick

This can be caused by the motor mounts failing, causing the engine/transmission to move around and put stress on the linkage. But it is also often trouble inside the transmission.
