Series 5 Coupe 1995 Immobiliser

Series 5 Coupe 1995 Immobiliser
Hi All,
I'm new to Civics and have just minted a 1995 coupe for my wife. My question is re the Immobiliser fitted. There is a flashing light on the dash behind the indicator stalk, The "key" is pressed onto the light and the car will then start. Is this an original fitting or an aftermarket one? The wiring to the flashing light/key connector seems very well integrated into the harnesses.
If it is factory fitted is there any way to remove it as I intend to fit a Thatcham 1 system.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
