Shifting in my 99 EX Coupe
Ok, heres the deal. My last car was a VW Jetta GLX-VR6. That car had a lot of power, was a blast to drive, but was unreliable.... VERY unreliable. It was very high maitenence, and its not cheap to get parts for those things.. BUt anyway, i'm veering off topic already. Now, in the Jetta there was a lot more low end torque, and therefore shifting in that was much different than shifting in my new Civic. I do have a tendency to over think a lot of things when it comes to cars (i've been racing for some time now), and I may just be getting worked up over nothing.
Now, with that said, I just can't seem to get used to shifting in the civic. I want to make sure theres nothing wrong with the clutch or tranny or anything like that, so i plan to take it out to a friend's shop and have them scope the whole thing out. Basically, i think my problem is that i ride the clutch to long (especially in first geat), because in the Jetta, you're actually supposed to ride it a little bit. But it seems like when i shift and get back on the gas, the Civic bogs down very slightly then picks up again. Am i doing something wrong? Or is this typical for a stock clutch and tranny?
Maybe I just need a little more time to get used to it, I have only had it for about a week.

I would think that as long as the "bog" wasn't too long then that is normal. Are you putting it to the floor or are talking about just regular driving? It takes some time for the motor to get in the right RPM range.
ALright cool man. I figured i was just over thinking it. The bog is not long at all, really, REALLY quick, so it seems normal. And i'm talking about every day driving, not putting it to the floor. Thanks for your help!!
