Default Si Cluster in a DX? Will it or won't it?

I currently have a 93 DX which doesn't have a tach. The previous owner had one mounted to the pillar bc he left the holes there! I do not mind getting one to put there; however, I read/heard somewhere that I could just swap out a cluster from an Si same interchange (92-95?) which has a tach and this would work? However, a dude who works for us who happens to be very knowlegeable in my opinion about Civics - he has his own salvage yard of nothing but - told me that it would not work - that the other gauges would, just not the tach.

Does anyone know for sure the answer to this. Regardless of the outcome, I still may end up getting an external but curious to know my options.

Also, if I decide to get an external how would I hook it up on my civic?

Mike

Plug and play in an EK. Not 100% sure about EG but maybe he'll let you try one before you buy one?
