hi
i have a 1991 civic vtec import.i have recently fitted a induction kit .
it also has a cat converter.when i put my foot down in 1st i leave a smoke cloud behind
me wich dont smell to great.
would this be because of the cat or induction kit??
any ideas people??

what color smoke ?--black =fuel / blue=oil /white = water or antifreeze

the funky smell is from the new cat and will go away. as for the smoke, it could blowin off build up that may have occurred with your old cat.

iit looks like a black smoke as i can easily see it in my rear view mirror when i take off.

Shot rings would make bluish-gray (a.k.a. oil) smoke...

yeah black smoke normally means it is running too rich. However, make sure of that as when you floor and if the smoke is bluish-white, or greyish-white it will most likely be oil through the rings.

it does it aswell when i rev it up while standing.
sadly it does look like a blueish grey smoke that goes with the wind.
do you definitly think its the rings?and how could i tell for sure?
the car is under warrenty so they will have to sort it.
