New Clutch
I had a clutch installed the other day since i had the original one in it for 123,000 miles... when my clutch started to go i had to let it out really far, and when i first got the car back in march the clutch was hard to press and caught as soon as i took it off the floor. Now it is easy to press and it doesnt catch as low. Does this have anything to do w/ resurfacing the flywheel?
The reason it was engaging so high before is that the clutch disk was worn thin, so it had to travel farther before it made contact. With a brand new clutch, it doesn't have to move as far, meaning the pedal won't come up as much before it engages. After having the flywheel surfaced (i.e. shaved down just a tiny bit), there is once again a bigger gap between the flywheel and the clutch disk, meaning the pedal can travel further before the clutch engages.
