Default Spark Plug Removal

What is the best method of removing spark plugs from an aluminum head...cold engine, warm engine, or hot engine? Thanks.

I would say any time.

I wouldn't install cold plugs in hot cylinder head. Use anti-seize and torque wrench for installation if you have one.

Does your wrench reads that low on FT-LB gage?? My wrench goes as low as 25 on FT-Lbs. I have to pull out another wrench with IN-Lbs to go that low.

Anyways, my book says 156 in-lbs which is the same as 13 ft-lbs for spark plugs on Civics.

No...I would have to do the math and use an inch pound wrench too. Thanks for the info.

One other thing...should any type of grease or sealant be used on the top of the park plug boot where it makes the seal to keep water and debris out of the plug well? I know to use dielectric grease on the end of the plug wires, but I am talking about where the seal is at the top of the plug wire. Thanks.

If you got the correct wires the top of the boot will seal itself on the valve cover where the lips sticks up at the top of the plug hole and they do have a tourqe wrench that goes that low mine goes to 5 ft/lbs I got it from Matco Tools
