Default spark plug wires problem?

hi,

so i think i need new spark plug wires but i'm not sure. I still have my original spark plug wires which are all the way from 1996 and i'm at about 150,000 miles give or take. i've noticed on flat road that i take a little bit longer to accelerate than other cars but it's most noticable when i'm going up a hill. when going uphill I press the gas pedal half way to the floor and only reach about 40mph which seems odd. a little while ago i had a cylinder misfire on 2 which set a check engine light and i heard a buzzing sound from the engine for a split second but it hasn't happened since then. the wires look a little dusty but no visible cracks or peeling.

i guess i could replace them and see if it improves but i'd like to know for sure before i start throwing parts at it.

i suppose this could be a compression problem but i'm not burning oil and i've never noticed smoke coming out the tail pipe. also my coolant looks clean so i don't think it's a head gasket. should i just replace the plug wires and pray it works?

there's also a crack in the exhaust manifold if that could be causing this.

Wow. 150k and 15+ year old with the OEM from the factory wiring? Maybe it is me, but I replace spark wires every other year at the least.

The crack may explain a buzzing noise, and a possible CEL. You should replace that, but it is not 100% necessary at this time.

When was the last time the distributor cap and rotor were replaced? Spark plug? Fuel filter? The car might just need a simply tune up.
