Default speed at 3K rpm 5th gear.

Hi All, I noticed that my speed is just 70mph even if I'm already at 3K rpm at 5th gear. I drive an 05 Civic LX Sedan. Do you guys experience the same? I think the rpm is quite high for that speed. Or the gearings are just that low. Is this the reason why manual driven civics suffer MPG on highways than automatic ones?

my 97 turns the same rpm at 70 its a 5spd and my 89 hatch at 70 turns a little over 4000 rpm and straight drives get better mpg then auto.. auto lose around 20% of there power through torque converter

I have a 97 EX sedan, and at 110km/h (close enough to call it 70mph) I'm dead on 3000rpms....seems normal to me.
