hey.. this has been goin on for a while now. i can be driving and myspeedometer just quits. sometime for days and sometimes for a few mins. its kinda pissin me off cause ill know how fast im goin thenBLAMO!! its at zero. i have takin the gauge out everything is connected. theres no loose wires that i can see. its just got a mind of its own. would gettin a whole new gauge cluster fix it or am i going to have to start pulling wires?

it sounds like your speed sensor is bad. its behind the gauge panl.

my 95 civic used to do that, but for some reason it doesnt do it anymore, now my 94 does it too, but still not fixed, if you find out whats wrong please let me know too

My 93 used to do that...what u need to do is get another cluster. After I replaced that, my speedo was always 5 mph ahead of what the car was actually going, so I ended up replacing the speed sensor that is on the manual transaxle...and now everything is alright. First, replace that cluster!! Dont go pulling wires because theres nothing wrong with them!!

If it sometimes works then the nylon gear in the trans should be okay. If it was bad, the speed would never register properly. So, I think the problem is either the gauge cluster or the speedo sensor. Good luck I had the same problem and solved it only after replacing the gear, sensor, and guage cluster!
