Speedometer Needle doesn't work/move
Last question. I have a 1993 Civic and the speedometer needle doesn't move when you drive. Is there just a part I can replace or do I need an entire cluster from the junkyard? What is the cheapest/easiest fix? Thanks alot!!
If the odometer still works it's going to be the speedometer unit itself, simplest to replace the whole cluster. If the odometer doesn't work then it could be the VSS, that should also set a code in the ECU. First check under the hood that the VSS is securely plugged in.
Can someone tell me where the VSS or cehicle speed sensor is located? I haven't noticed whether the odometer is working but I will drive the car tomorrow and find out to determine what it may be. Do VSS's go bad/common problem?
Well mine had its engine changed out a few years ago from what I was told. Where is the VSS exactly/what does it look like? Is this something I can buy locally at Advanced Auto/Autozone. etc?How much for the part?
It's on top of the transmission (transaxle) near the back, on the part where the CV axles go in. Has a three-wire plug on top of the sensor. I think it's expensive enough that you want to be pretty sure it is bad before replacing it.
