Default speedometer wrong

My speedometer reads high. If I am indicating 70 I am only going about 65. Seems to be fairly consistent throughout the range of speeds. The tires are the factory size. The odometer follows the inaccuracy by being high by 4 tenths every 10 miles. Do you think it could be the speed sensor? Thanks in advance for any help.

You haven't changed your tranny/gearing have ya? Are the tires pretty worn, or low on air? If they're the right rolling size, I would think the speed sensor or indicatorneedlea likely culprit, especially since you stated that the discrepancy is fairly consistent at about 5MPHthroughout.

Incorrect tire size or gearing causes an inconsistency by percentage. The faster you go, the more the discrepancy is. The speed sensor or indicator needlecould be "off" by 5MPH no matter what speed you're going.

Changed the speed sensor and still no change. Is there a chance someone in the past changed the gearing on the speed sensor to transmission gear? I know you can do that on standard american cars, can it be done on these too?
