Exclamation Sputtering 91 DX

I just got a 91 civic DX and after about 2 weeks it started sputtering. It will always start but after i drive it for more than a minute it gets worse. I checked the ECU but its not flashing and i know my car has some wiring problems from previous owners ghetto rigging an alarm system and other things into the car. I fixed A lot of the wiring but who knows if i messed up somewhere when i did that. I'm not very good with cars as this is my first one so any help is greatly appreciated. Any ideas??

When was the ignition system last tuned up?

How old is the fuel filter?

Aftermarket ignition? I would suggest reverting to stock. The stock system is quite powerful and reasonably trouble-free.

Tune-up of the stock ignition consists of replacing the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. The wires are often the problem, and there is no good way to know if they are bad other than replacing.

Talking figured it out

I ended up changing the ignition wires the distributor cap and the distributor rotor and it runs great again i also changed the fuel and air filters just to be certain they wouldn't be a problem in the future. thank you all for the help
