Default Starter compatibility? 98 non-VTEC to 00 VTEC

I have a 00 Civic EX, Auto, VTEC and I suspect the starter is bad.

On ebay last night I purchased a starter from 98 Civic with 1.6 non vtec engine, auto.

Will this work?

I think all D-series engines use the same starter.

Since all D16 blocks are the same, vtec or non-vtec, I would think they would all use the same stuff.
