Default Strange Wiring Issue

my car and i have a love/hate relationship

right now, i'm loving my car but she aint loving me back...

so my battery keeps dying, but i'm not leaving anything on. the weird thing about it is... i can turn the car off, remove the key, and turn the air on. at least the fans/blowers anyway.

any suggestions?

Is the charge light ON on the dash? How old is the battery?

Start by cleaning the battery terminals and connectors with a wire brush. Do the same for the battery ground wire connected to frame in the engine bay.

Next, have the battery charged and the alternator checked at a local auto parts store. In some cases, these services are free of charge so call around. Also check whether the alternator belt is loose.

i know the alternator is good, i just replaced it not to long ago. I could have the battery tested but that isnt too old either. The light is not ON in the cluster. I know the alternator is good because the battery charges while i drive, but something is pulling current even when the ignition is off and the key is out. I'm guessing it is somehow tied to the fact that i can turn the ac fans/blowers on. For now, I just undo the pos terminal of the battery when i get to work and just hook it back up when i leave. Might be time to remove the dash again and check some wiring haha

That's what the problem is, turning the key off does not power down the things that it should. The key switch itself is the likely problem. Unplug the big plug under the dash that goes to the key switch and see if the fan doesn't come on then.
