Default studdering civic

hey dudes, love the site. i have a problem with my civic, that is whenever i am trying to keep a constant speed like say 90 km/h in 4th and i let my foot off the gas just a little the car studders and hits hard when i press back down, it is like there is no inbetween just accel or not. it does this in any gear when you r trying to hold a constant speed. if i am accelerating it runs fine. also whenever this happens the engine light will be on, but it only comes on intermitantly, when it is not on the car runs great. i have not been able to get a code yet but will try soon. i am also going to replace the IAC valve to see if this solves the problem, but would still like to hear any input from anyone who has had similar problems. thanx in advance for the assistance.

I dunno why you just want to replace random parts. A better idea would be to test the part that you think is bad and make sure that you are actually replacing a bad part. You will spend lots of money fixing your car if you decide to replace parts until the the problem is solved. If you replace enough parts, the problem will go away. But the better way to fix your car is to think the problem through and test all the possible bad parts before replacing any parts. Just my opinion. And back to the IAC. If your IAC was bad then the car would also have problems idling.

for your information agent of darkness the iac valve was not a random fix. i have a reasons for replacing it, one of them being that the car would not idle, another being that i had good reason to believe it was faulty. the reason i submitted a post was to see if any other members had had similar problems and how they had fixed it not because i wanted to be condescended upon by the likes of you. also for your information that was the problem and it is now fixed, but thanx for telling me how i should go about repairing MY car

As far as the studdering thing goes, it's definately one of the sensors, probably one that's located on the intake manifold. Make sure all the wires are tight first, because if the light only comes on from time to time, it could just be a loose wire/bad connector.

Also, the IAC valve on my car is bad too. I don't know if it's just the valve itself or the old crusty looking vaccuum hose that connects it. With my fried IAC, all that happens is that the idle jumps constantly between idle and 1500 RPM which is really annoying.... I'm going to try the vaccuum hose first, what do you think? But I know that the IAC doesn't have any direct relation to the studdering problem because it doesn't effect it any other time other than idling, and it's not connected to the ECU so the check light doesn't come on for it. I'm sorry I'm just rambling but I thought it might clear up some confusion between people as I see there seems to be a dilemma...
