so yeah, i got a 95 civic ex and i had some problems in the past with my ignition system. i had a Crane Cams Ignition system in the car and for some reason something fried on it and i had to have the stock ignition reinstalled. I also have a high pressure fuel rail on it as well as a CAI. Now that i have the stock ignition my car when you try to get it to go from like a stoplight or something it will studder for awhile and then between 3000-4000 rpm it will rev normally. I am guessing that it is probably from the fuel rail putting more gas into the car then the stock ignition can handle temporarly flooding the car. its the only thing that i can think of and i was wondering if i am way off on that. Also, how much horsepower would i lose from the stock ingition?

 

also i forgot to ask, i want to boost it eventually, but i dont want to spend $3000 on it. Is an electric supercharger worht my time? they only put like 2.1-3 lbs of pressure and i was wondering if that even worth my time. hell i dont even think i could fit it in my car with the CAI installed. I was just wondering what everyones opinion was?

 

it sounds like you are pritty close in your diagnosis after market ignition systems are designed to handel more fule, a factory ig nition system if you ave too much fule will cuase the engine to stumble at low rpms (fluding its self out) once you get to higher rpm the car requiers more fule so the shuttering will go away. to check if it is fluding pull your plugs if there is like a black residue on the end or if they are wet and the smell of gas is strong then it most lickly is geting way to much fuel
