Default Synthetic?

Simple question:
My car really doesnt have any aftermarket engine parts but planning on in the future. Its a 98 Civic Lx with around 50k on it. Ive been using Regular oil since I got the car since the beginning of last spring but should I switch to synthetic to ensure the longtivity of the car? I'm not worried about the extra bucks on oil and since civic rarely need added oil from my experience should I simply just switch over?

wouldnt hurt. the engine will last longer in the long run and get you a mpg improve but just a little, that stuff ads up though

so its safe to just do an oil change and just switch over to synthetic. then change it at around 2,000 just to ensure a flush?
