temp sensor

Car is 93 civic car was given to me. I was told the temp gage has not worked since head gasket was replaced. Where is the temp sensor? Any suggestions. Thanks in advanced.

Check whether fuse 15 is blown. If not, I think the coolant temperature sending unit is near the distributor and next to the coolant temperature sensor.

Checked fuses and connections still no temp. I dont think fan comes on either. ^ Thanks for reply still trouble shooting.

The coolant temperature switch that controls the radiator fan should be on the thermostat housing.

The sender for the gauge is screwed into the end of the head, underneath the distributor. It is the one toward the back of the car, with one wire. Probably they just forgot to plug the wire back in. If you unplug the wire and ground it, the gauge should go all the way to hot when you turn the key on. This will prove the wiring and gauge are OK, then the only thing left is the sender itself.

Just got back from buying a Haynes manual. I will figure it out and post back. I like the car the tacoma has not came out of the garage for a week +saving money on gas [sm=w00t.gif]

That was it I ground it gauge worked replaced sender and all good [sm=icon_rock.gif]
