Default temp tach not working...

Hey guys, I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX 4 Door, 7th Gen. and when my grandpa gave me the car, the temperture gauge on the dashboard cluster isn't working. I tried popping the hood to trace the lines, but can't find them, does anyone know what color the wire would be? I'll try and get a Hayne's manual soon... thanks in advance

Check the #9 (10A) and #10 (7.5A) fuses in the under dask fuse/relay box. Is there a check engine light or does it say "error" in the trip/odo display? It seems like the ECT sends a signal to the PCM and then the PCM sends a signal to the gauge. So it would prolly be a good idea to check the voltage at the gauge, this is prolly gonna be a connector behind the gauge cluster. I believe it is a WHT/GRN wire that is the signal wire. I'm gonna try and get a diagram or schematic for the gauge, that might take bit of searching.

Edit: There is a CPU that controls the gauge assembly. This CPU gets a signal from the PCM that gets its signal from the ECT. It think that WHT/GRN wire i mentioned earlier is the signal wire from the PCM. I'm not sure of this, but i think thats wat its for. I'm assuming that the gauge CPU is inside the gauge assembly, and that connector is connecting to the CPU. I think your gonna want to check for voltage at the WHT/GRN wire and a ground wire or ground. You should see a difference in temperature when the car is cold and when it has warmed up. If this does not occur, then it is likely that the guage is not getting a signal from the PCM, so there might be a broken wire or something. If this does occur and the gauge is not working, then the gauge may be bad. If you get a chilton's manual, then it should back up the wire thing.
