Default Temperature Cable

A friend of mine had her radio stolen (out of her 98 civic) by a bunch of amateurs who ripped out the entire dash. In the process they broke the temperature cable. She bought a new one and is trying to hook it up to the temperature controller. She hooked it in the dash but she is not sure where the other end of the cable goes. Has anyone ever installed a temperature cable?

Basically, there is a simple bracket system underneath the dash back towards the firewall area. Around that system is a metal piece with a little stem sticking out. The stock cable had a loop at the end that went around that stem. I'll see what kind of pics I can get you later, but hopefully that gets you in the right direction.

Alright, pics are up!!!

Thanks for the pics. She has got that part attached now. There may be a problem with the cable by the manual control. Is there only one cable that goes from the switch in the dash to the metal peg in the back? When you manually move the temperatue gauge it doesn't seem to move the peg. (?)

what you need to do is remove the cable from its mount and the clip that holds it in place, then make sure you have the valve in the closed position, and the temperature adjuster also in the closed position, then remount and you should be good to go!
