Default Tensioning a timing belt

Hi all! I have a 98 Civic LX d16y7. Put a new timing belt on. Did the tensioning process. Drove it a bit. Went and checked the belt and it was still tight. Seems like it could be a bit tighter though. Any tips? Or should it not be super tight? All imput greatly appreciated!
