Timing/crank position sensor
Alright guys,
This is my first time posting and I know this has been covered but I’m having trouble finding an answer here. I have an 03 civic lx that one day just would not start one morning when I was trying to go home from work. It would turn over and start but immediately sputter and die. Unplugged the crank (not cam) sensor and the car will stay running but sounds terrible. So naturally I assumed it was out of time, even though the belt and water pump were replaced at 100k miles. The car currently has 155k. I assumed the tensioner had gone bad. Took everything off (after screaming at the crank bolt for hours) and put the engine at TDC and all the notches and arrows on the pulleys line up perfectly. Is there any way the belt could have slipped an entire rotation on one of the pulleys? Just confused because I was sure the belt had just slipped when I unhooked the crank sensor and it ran so poorly. Thanks for any help. You guys are great.
