Default Towing

I've got a 91 Civic 2DR hatchback. Thinking of towing a small U-haul trailer for a move, but I'm having a hard time finding my towing capacity. I'm guessing I can't tow very much with it...

Does anyone know the towing capacity of a 91 Civic Hatchback?

And the max load capacity also?

Thanks,

I don't know about the towing capacity but the max load is listed on the door jamb with the VIN. It's listed as GVWR. That is the maximum allowable load on the car including passengers and fuel and everything.

Actually I did find the tow rating for a 1991 Accord and it was 1000lbs, so I would imagine the Civic is less than that.

You'd be suprised. These cars, especially 4th gens! are warriors. I own an 88, and my brother in law who owned the car before me used to tow a sail boat behind it ever weekend. The "suggested" max payload capacity is 800 lbs. but they can go way beyond that.
