Default Transmission noise affected by clutch

I get a loud bearing type noise when the clutch is engaged. (even while in nuetral) It goes away when the clutch pedal is pressed. I was told it was for sure the throw out bearing. Well I put a whole new clutch kit in the vehicle and it is as loud as ever.

Any ideas?

well it seems you just replaced your clutch for nothing....the noise is caused by a bearing in your tranny, not the throwout bearing but i can't remember the name of it...i've had 2 91 civics that made the same noise, including the one i drive now. i just live with it. it doesn't seem to affect driveability.

Well mine is REALLY loud. The noise is noticeable to others outside the car.

The clutch needed replaced anyway. It was pretty much at the end of it's life as well as the trhow out bearing and pilot bearing. But now I need to find a used tranny in good condition.

yea mine's the same way... gets louder/faster when i drive....i assume over time it'll get bad enuf that the car won't be driveable but i'm hoping it takes a while.... after some research i believe the bearing in question is the input shaft bearing.... its a common weakness. don't know how hard it is to replace or how much it would cost....at least used civic trannys are easy to come by and also inexpensive.

Sounds like the input shaft bearing.

I have the same problem and I've been assuming its just the throwout bearing. how much did it cost you to get it fixed?

I have always heard it was the throwout bearing as well.

yeah it is most likely the input shaft bearing, but if the tranny is off you might as well replace the throwout bearing too. for an O.E. one from honda it is like 40 bucks
