Default Trunk Locking Mechanism NOT Locking

Hi All,

First time poster and my apologies if this is located in the wrong section.

For starters, I drive a 03 Civic LX.

I've had a recent development with my trunk not wanting to lock. When I close it, it will latch, but not much, and if I pull up on the trunk with just a little pressure, it pops open. When I look at the mechanism itself, it looks like the lock/hook is jammed up and not moving into the full position in order for it to lock with the cupeling at the base of the trunk. Maybe it's just gunked up. I'm not sure. The only way for me to "reset" the locking mechanism is by using my key to "unlock" it or by using the release button on the inside of the trunk.

Is there anything that can be done?

Thanks one and all!

well first thing to try is bust out some WD40. spray it down and see if it closes or not. if it does your latch is just dry and you should grease it up.
