Default Typical rear wheel well rust.

Can this be DIY in the garage? Remove rust, bondo, sand, paint? How easy is it?

How much do body shops usually charge?

I had a body shop do it for $1,500 (both sides). Mine was bad enough where it did not pass the annual inspection. The shop sandblasted the rust off, then welded metal to fill the void. They did a good job and it took 5 days.

In your own garage it won't look good.. unless you know what you're doing. Like it's just been said, you need to weld new panels over the holes, and then smooth it out with bondo, you must not fill the holes with bondo, it won't look good.

I'm not concerned with it looking good. The car's a beater.

Would it stop the rust from spreading?

Paint'll be easy, car's black.

well if you dont care what it looks like then yea that should work. However, if you are gonna sand it and bondo it, it still is gonna take a while to even get itlooking half decent. Body work is very time consuming even if you know what you're doing
