You have a secondary O2 sensor but not primary? You really should have a primary O2 sensor to get the mixture right for good fuel economy, not fouling the plugs, etc. The secondary is just to monitor the performance of the cat, it is pointless if you don't have a cat. If you have a sensor at all, hook it up as primary.

I do have a primary O2...don't think i ever said i didn't. I also know the function of it, hence why i still have it

thank you both for your help. RonJ's initial call on it being a problem with the wiring harness pointed us to fuse15, mk38 mentioned that its a fuse for the O2 sensors...i checked my secondary, and it was severely damaged. the metal end-cap on it was bent into the wires, grounding them to each other. pulled the O2 sensor, plugged the bung, and now it works just fine. thanks for your help guys.
