Default v-tec not hittin

i did a minime swap in my 89 hatch with a d15b block and a y8 head, i have my v-tec wired to a switch for now but its not working.. some of my friends that have done this swap and has done a ls vtec swap said that before they changed the oil pump in the ls block it wouldnt hit vtec.. could my 1.5 oil pump be to small to make enough oil preasure for vtec to work? or wat else could it be?

vtec soleniod wired to a toggle/push button switch. make sure the vtec soleniod is clicking on and off..... when the mini me was done, did you remove the oil control jet in you block? if no vtec will not engage.

did u get a P28 ecm when u did the swap and if you did, are you sure you hooked up the two vtec wires to the right prongs on the ecm? is the solenoid grounded?

check the knock sensor. if it broke, that could be another reason.

are you sure its not workin? on a sohc, you might not feel it if it just switches the cam over without the different maps you get with the vtec ecu. try accelerating hard in second and hit the button at about 62-6500 rpm, then it should give a decent kick.
